3D helps you highlight your furniture
How to highlight furniture is the first question furniture professionals ask themselves when marketing their products. Unlike physical sales outlets, your Internet visitors can’t appreciate the comfort of a sofa, the seat of a chair or the softness of a cushion. Online sales only allow customers to make a choice based on what they see, so the quality of your visuals must be beyond reproach.
3D offers unrivalled advantages in terms of ease of use and visual variety. The specialization and accumulated experience of our graphic designers enable us to model furniture in great detail, reproduce its textures and produce a variety of renderings, from standardized white backgrounds to the most spectacular stagings. By following a very precise moodboard, we can reproduce exactly the atmosphere chosen by the professional, encouraging the customer to project himself and imagine how to decorate his home with the furniture.
#1 – rendering on a white background and packshot studio: standardized presentation
Most marketplaces require their suppliers to deliver product photos with a white background. The guidelines to be followed are very precise, for example:
- Neutral, transparent background, without color or shadow,
- neutral light, no reflections
- No accessories
- Predefined angles of view
At first glance, doing these renderings yourself seems easy. But when you get down to the nitty-gritty, you’ll probably give up and ask a photographer to do the job. He’ll charge you for each shot + cropping + travel. And you’ll have to do this again for each new collection. And woe betide if the guidelines change from one marketplace to the next!
On the other hand, there are several advantages to using 3D. Firstly, when we model a piece of furniture, you can reuse these models for other types of visuals, thus making the cost of modeling profitable. In this way, you can make as many product variations as possible, so you don’t have to assemble the furniture each time. With 3D, we fix the cameras in a scene where all the products will be rendered. They are then presented in a standardized way across your entire catalog.
To stand out from the crowd, we can also produce highlighted packshots, also known as “photo fond cyclo”: the product is rendered in a studio background and accessorized. We created these studio renderings for our customer, who specializes in bathroom furniture:
#2 – highlight furniture in a lifestyle ambience
Let’s face it, rendering on a white background isn’t sexy. It doesn’t really sell: it doesn’t attract attention, it doesn’t make you dream. Its function is purely presentational.
Staging a piece of furniture is a much better way to sell. The product is set in an appropriate environment, with an attractive décor. Customers can already imagine adapting their interior decor to suit their new piece of furniture, or finding a place for this designer furniture in their bathroom.
Once modeled, we can present the furniture in all its facets, in all its color versions, in all its dimensional variations. Just imagine the savings our customer made by producing all these visuals: he didn’t have to rent a space, assemble all these versions of the furniture, hire a photographer, etc. Everything was done remotely: he was able to see the furniture in all its facets, in all its color versions, in all its dimensions. Everything was done remotely: he sent us photos of the furniture, photos of the texture and indications of the scenes. The result is right in front of you.
#3 – 360° innovation
Imagine allowing your customer to turn a piece of furniture in all directions to help them understand the product. Or imagine inviting your customer into a scene and presenting him or her with several decorative or furnishing items. 3D can do all this and more.
This technology is decisive when you want to position yourself in a high-end niche. This type of customer wants an original customer experience and is sensitive to new technologies. When you can’t physically see the product, high-end customers still want to appreciate the object from every angle before investing a substantial sum.
This is how we came up with a 360° viewer for a premium office chair made in France. Faced with big-name competitors such as Hermann Miller our customer has opted for a 360° view to present some of its products.
We are also developing a new 3D visualization solution to highlight furniture. By creating a space and placing our customers’ furniture in it, we can create virtual showrooms where the customer moves from one space to another, from one atmosphere or type of decor to another. In each space, they find the manufacturer’s catalog, can click on the item to see its characteristics and order it.
#4 – showcasing modular furniture with video animation
It’s always more pleasant to see a piece of modular furniture transform before your very eyes than to see a succession of still images.
But when the furniture is only at the prototype stage, or when you don’t have it in stock (as in the case of drop-shipping, for example), 3D can replace reality. From a few images of the furniture in its various positions, we can create a video animation of the furniture in action.
For example, we created this for an electric bed:
If your marketing budget doesn’t allow it, you can always fall back on before-and-after scenarios such as those produced for a French prototype of a retractable bed:

#5 – Outdoor furniture: invent your dream locations
You dream of showcasing outdoor furniture like your competitors presented in Habitat: a living room with an idyllic sea view, an extendable table around a swimming pool, a deckchair in a relaxing setting… But you don’t have the means to organize a photo shoot in such locations? Instead of scouting out the perfect location, let the magic of 3D work its magic.
A Mediterranean setting for your garden furniture? You bet! A hammock in a house in the South of France? It’s as good as done! Your living room set in a garden? Why not! All you have to do is clearly explain how you see the scene, and our artists will take care of the 3D design. Several free corrections are possible to obtain the visual you had in mind. Did you dream it? Studio 3D made it happen.
