3D furniture animation: case study

Convinced of the effectiveness of 3D furniture animation on its website visitors, our client ordered a furniture animation of an electric box spring. To make the video, we only needed a few pictures of the box spring with a description of the desired atmosphere.

From these, we created the model of the box spring, then added the texture and inserted it into an environment to suit our customer’s taste. After submitting the 3D visualization and making some adjustments, he validated the various shots of the box spring:

The 3D staging and the different slat base positions were validated, it was the turn of the computers to work. That is to say, make 25 frames of the model multiplied by the number of seconds of the video. This one lasting 5 seconds, it was therefore necessary to produce 125 renderings of the electric box spring in very slightly different positions. Ultimately, we had the impression that the automated furniture was raising in a natural way.

The renderings were then retouched and compiled in video editing software to obtain the following 3D furniture animation:

Price of a 3D animation

Like the calculation of the price of realistic 3D renderings, the price of a 3D product animation depends on several criteria:

• The complexity of the object to be modeled: the more complex it is, the more time it will take to be computer generated,
• The shooting range: the wider the shot, the more necessary it will be to furnish the space,
• The desired resolution that will be time-consuming if it is important,
• The duration of the video: a second of the video requires 25 images, so 25 computer generated renderings
• A soundtrack is included with the 3D product animation.

Generally, our estimates are calculated in man-days so that our client is aware of the time required to produce his 3D product animation.
