What is an outdoor 3D visualization?
In architecture, an outdoor 3D visualization is a photo-realistic representation of a real estate project, created by computer using software such as 3dsMax or Lumion. This type of imagery is particularly useful for architectural competitions, or for rapidly marketing the properties of real estate developers.
Data required for 3D visualization outdoors
3D visualization for outdoor use begins with the 3-D construction of the real estate project. This is based on the architect’s plans, preferably in .DWG format.
Once the building has been reproduced in 3D, the next step is to apply textures to each individual element. We select materials and colors based on the information contained in the architectural brief.
The architectural brief also enables us to reproduce the terrain and position the vegetation in line with the existing features and/or the architect’s vision.
Outdoor 3D visualization: 2 corrections on offer
Studio 3D‘s competitive advantage is to offer 2 corrections on each scene created. In this way, we deliver a first version that can be modified 2 times. This usually results in a very satisfactory final version. Subsequent corrections are billed on a time-spent basis.

Our client, a property developer, liked our outdoor 3D visualizations so much that he wanted to continue his order with indoor visualizations. So, still using the plans in our possession and a few decorating guidelines, we were able to produce the following architectural perspectives.
The 3D plan: the project at a glance
The 3D plan is a scale model of the home in which the furniture is placed, enabling the customer to easily visualize the spaces.
To produce this plan, we reproduce the plans supplied, raise walls and openings, place materials and furniture, adjust light sources and render. A fairly straightforward task, completed in just one working day.
Video animation and virtual tours: premium presentations
A real estate developer looking to sell an exceptional property quickly can afford to allocate a larger share to its communication media.
In addition to outdoor 3D visualization, you can also turn to more powerful solutions such as virtual tours and animated videos.
The 3D virtual tour is created by constructing all the spaces in the real estate project. As with outdoor 3D visualization, we model the building, apply textures and furnish the whole.
The big difference lies in the resolution of the visuals, which increases from a simple 2K to 16K, multiplying rendering time by 8. So, a single space requires up to 8h of rendering time. Multiply this by the number of spaces in the project and you get a succession of 360° renderings which, once assembled in an appropriate viewer, allow you to visit the future property.
The video is also based on the same principle. We follow a storyboard, create animated previews of the spaces we’ve built, then launch the process of rendering the visuals. To produce a video like the one below, we need to produce 25 frames per second of video. Here again, rendering times are quite considerable, as each frame takes around 15 minutes to render. With 1,500 images to create one minute of video, you can already imagine the scale of the machine work involved.
